Lesson Delivery
Introduction
20 Minutes - What Makes Me ‘Me’
Remind students of the activity they completed in Module 2 about identifying their strengths and interests. Ask students to complete the What Makes Me ‘Me’ worksheet. When students have identified their five qualities, get them to reflect on the process they went through:
Who found it easy?
Who found it hard?
How many people were surprised by what their partner chose for them?
Development
20 Minutes - My Interests
Discuss how interests will influence many of the choices students make in their life, including what they study and the jobs they will do. Point out that students may lose interest in some things as they get older and pick up new interests.
Ask students to complete the My interests worksheet. Guide students to identify clubs and venues in the local community where they could try new things in the future such as volunteering. Alternatively point out the opportunities available to them at school during recess and lunch times.
Closure
20 Minutes - Discovering Strengths and Interests
Ask students to login to their Pathways Plan and play the careers game ‘I would rather’.
