Introduction

15 Minutes - Introduction

Define what a ‘job’ is.  A job is a person’s role in society; it is usually a regular activity in exchange for payment. But a job can also be unpaid.  Ask……Why do we need skills for work?  The future can be exciting and sometimes fearful but it is being created now and will continue to be created by you and your generation.  Changes are occurring in the world of work which means the way we are employed, the types of occupations and where we work will impact on our choices and opportunities.  Ask the students to complete Resource A – Skilling up.
