Lesson Delivery
Introduction
20 Minutes - Introduction to high school
Transitioning to high school is both exciting and challenging. It is a time to discover more opportunities.
Lead a discussion on what opportunities students think high school might offer.
Ask students to write down their answer to each of the five questions in Resource A
Development
40 Minutes - Will my future employer want details about my schooling?
Talk about lifelong learning and how you can learn skills at school that you need for work. Ask students to complete Resource B individually then get into pairs to complete Resource C to help them understand these skills.
Class discussion: why do employers want to know details about your schooling?
Closure
20 Minutes - Pathways website
Ask students to login to Pathways and update their ‘Educational setting’ and ‘Year’ by clicking on ‘Update details’. Explain that students now use the Pathways Plan modules. They can still access their 5-6 Plan but can no longer change the information as they are now in Year 7. Students review/look at their Year 6 Transition Plan and explore the Pathways Plan modules. They will complete these and revisit them throughout high school.
